Vic Hislop is an Australian Icon. Most Australians know him as the "Shark Man". Vic is an authority on Man - Eating Sharks. His amazing life catching these man - eaters has been of benefit to science and his numerous donations of Sharks, Whales and other species to Museums around the world have supplied us with a valuable knowledge of creatures that we know very little about.
Vic has many a chilling true story about the Great White Shark and other species such as the Tiger Shark or the thug of the sea as it has been called. Without Vic's knowledge many more people may have disappeared from our oceans without a trace. While it seems many authorities suppress the facts concerning Shark Attacks around the world and in fact list these deaths as drownings, Vic has a different point of view on what happened to many of these people.
Vic Hislop's lifes work is on display in a unique, chilling and educational display here in Hervey Bay and also at Airlie Beach in Queensland Australia. It is an eye opening display which features very large frozen Great White Sharks, and large Tiger Sharks. The Sharks are kept in a huge freezer at 25 degrees below freezing, with viewing windows, so you can get within inches of them.
This is the only place in the world that you can see Sharks like this. The nearest thing you will ever see to them is in some museums but they are fibreglass models. But here Vic has kept the real Sharks. When you go to aquariums and Sea Worlds, you don't see very large man - eating sharks, you see small and harmless sharks. Large Man - Eaters would smash themselves to death in captivity, that's the difference and the reason Vic has gone to so much trouble.
The main movie "Shark Hunter" runs continuously all day on a large screen. It is 50 minutes of entertainment for the whole family. One shark caught on this film weighs two and a half tonnes.
Vic Hislop has spent more than 30 years studying Sharks, Whales and other marine creatures, he has spent weeks, months and even years proving or disproving theories put forward by the so called experts, so you can be assured that everything you and your children learn at this awesome exhibition is factual.
Vic has found that many whales that beach themselves are victims of Shark Attack, he believes that when humans push them back in the water they beach themselves again because they know what is waiting for them back in the water. If you put yourself in the whales position it's not hard to understand why he believes this.
Vic has been called upon from all over the world for his expertise. He was on standby for the Hong Kong government and was asked to help in Japan after two fatal Shark Attacks.
Read a chilling, heart wrenching true story about "Minnie the Minke Whale" and Vics battle (at the request of scientists) to save her from up to 45 Tiger Sharks, some of which were as big as Vics 16 foot dinghy.
If you are able to visit one of Vics shark exhibitions you will find that the strong underlying message throughout the exhibition is not one of killing all sharks, it is one of conservation of all marine species not just sharks.....and also a prediction of what will happen if we allow our fish stocks (sharks natural prey) to become overfished.
In many parts of the world this has already happened and scientists now warn of an impending ecological distaster....something that Vic Hislop warned of decades ago.
On this website you will find the views of Vic Hislop and some personal information which will differ greatly from the absolute lies about the man you will find elsewhere on the internet. This is not a paid website nor was it commissioned by Vic Hislop. The webmaster simply became sick of reading lies about the man so created this site so you can get an insight into what his views and opinions really are.
Many people think that Vic is still out there full time shark fishing when in actual fact he makes adventure documentaries in remote parts of Australia that have little or nothing to do with hunting sharks. He still operates his shark exhibitions and his knowledge of large predatory sharks is still available today and little has changed except that some of his views have been verified by science and some of his predictions appear to be happening as our oceans change and our fish stocks are depleted.
