Age Group: 18 - 35
Free pick up and drop off from Hervey Bay. Transfer across to
Island Wilderness Lodge accommodation. Restaraunt meals
and picnic lunches ( vegetarian meals available, please advise
when booking ). Ranger guided tours by experienced guides.
Tour returns to Hervey Bay approx 5.45 pm. Keep your beach
towel, hat, sunscreen and other beach gear in your hand
luggage as tour departs immediately on arrival at Kingfisher
Bay.
Day 1
Pick up from your accommodation. Your Cool Dingo Tour
begins as you cruise around the islands of the Great Sandy
Straight to Kingfisher Bay, keep an eye out for turtles and
dolphins on the way. Marvel at Basin lake, natural paradise
and home to many freshwater turtles. Have lunch at Central
Station, a former logging camp, then take a hike along the
track through the rainforest, along the banks of Wanggoolba
Creek to Pile Valley. Then it's on to a swim in Lake
McKenzie's clear, blue water and soak up the sun on its white
sandy beaches. Relax!
Day 2
Drive along the World's most amazing highway, Seventy-Five
Mile Beach, to swim in the fast flowing, clear fresh water of
Eli Creek. Marvel at coloured sand formations and see the
famous Maheno ship wreck.
Swim in the Champagne Pools and climb to the top of Indian
Head for magnificent views of the surrounding sandblows and
beaches. From here you can often see sharks and huge rays
in the clear ocean water. Spot the birds of prey and keep an
eye out for the dingo - Australia's native dog.
Day 3
Visit beautiful, emerald-green Lake Wabby, surrounded on
one side by a massive sand blow, and on the other side by
eucalypt forest.
The impressive barrage lake is being slowly engulfed by the
sandblow. It is the deepest of Fraser's lakes and supports
more aquatic life than any other. Have a swim and then trek
over Hammerstone Sandblow. Enjoy a beach picnic lunch
before proceeding to Rainbow Gorge. Return to Kingfisher Bay
and depart on the 5pm catamaran to Hervey Bay.
